Exploring Kansas byways
September 5, 2014
This spring, I had the opportunity to write a short piece about the Western Vistas Historic Byway, one of 11 designated scenic byways in Kansas, for the new Kansas Byways Guide. As a native of that part of the state, many of the sites along the byway are familiar, and I realized just how long it had been since I’d visited some of my favorite places.
So in June, my family drove part of the byway, picnicked at Lake Scott State Park and Wildlife Area, and marveled at the magnificent Monument Rocks, one of the Kansas Sampler Foundation’s 8 Wonders of Kansas.
We took a few photos, too.
